Saturday morning I got up at 8:30 and got bundled up in my jackets, scarf, and hat. It was raining a little, but it was my turn to walk down to the village market and buy the bread for breakfast, and the rest of the weekend. Then night before, Zora had set out a bag and some money for me to take with me. As I walked to the store, I saw some other people out doing the same thing. I got our bread, and payed before making the little walk back to the house. When I got home, everyone was awake, and Zora was beginning to cook breakfast. We ate breakfast with all five of us together (the four of us and Robert's mom).
After breakfast we just hung out and didn't do much. We had a long night coming, so we rested most of the day. We had a little bit of soup for lunch, but nothing big like we usually do. We were going to a big feast in the evening and we needed to start saving room.
In the evening we got dressed up, and we walked down to the party for St. Martin's day. For dinner we had a huge goose feast with three or four kinds of bread dumplings, two kinds of cabbage, bramboráky, and of course, the goose. After we were done eating, they had live music and people started dancing. A friend of mine from school was one of the people who was playing music, but when she wasn't playing we hung out together. Robert and I danced polka together for one very long song, and then I was tired of dancing. Later I practiced dancing cha cha with my friend Anna from school. After some dancing, and once people were starting to feel less full from the dinner, they brought out sweets and a pate with bread. At around 12, I decided to go home with my host grandma because we were tired. I immediately fell asleep when we got home.
I guess I had been super tired, because I missed breakfast and slept until 11:30 on Sunday morning. When I finally got out of bed they had left stuff out from breakfast, so I made myself a couple pieces of toast with some jam. We weren't going to be doing a ton on Sunday, so I took a shower and decided to braid my hair. Then we had lunch together, and since it was Ruda's birthday celebration day we had rice with chicken, apple, raisins, and all in a really yummy sauce. This is one of my favorite lunches, so I was quite happy to be eating it again.
After we had lunch, Zora's parents came and brought a cake to celebrate Ruda's birthday. We all hung out and talked in the living room while we ate cake and had various drinks. I gave Ruda my little present of chocolates and a Eugene postcard written in Czech.
After we hung out for awhile, I face-timed Elsa back home since we had been trying to catch up for a couple of weeks. We had a little dinner later in the evening once Zora's parents had gone home. Then I also face-timed Kieu from back home. I went to bed a little late because I had been talking to my friends, but I was happy to tell them about what I had been up to.
