Monday marked two months in this beautiful country! I got to sleep in a little since my Czech lesson was later in the morning. We went to Robert's for our usual Monday morning breakfast before I went to my Czech lesson. In my lesson I learned some more family members, some grammar, and I even had a little conversation in Czech. Then I took the tram to school.
In art class I always have the most fun even though I'm really not good at art and I don't really enjoy it. But I have the most fun with my friends just being silly. We turned our project into a group project even though that's not what it was supposed to be. Even together I think we still had the worst project, but we also had the most fun making it. I ended up reconnecting with my friend Axelle who lives in France (she was in my district last year), and we talked about how it is to go back home, and how I am doing.
After school I went to the cafe and drank some tea while I worked on my journal a little bit. Then I went to Zora's office and got ready for another dance class. In the dance class we added spins to almost every dance, and I was struggling with everything, but I tried to stay positive. I also tried some different shoes that I had gotten, and they weren't so bad for how cheap they were. Then we went home for dinner, and I braided my hair and watched some Netflix.
Tuesday I went to school like normal. After school I met up with Ana for our usual cafe trip. There were new guys working but I had seen them the day before, and they already knew what we wanted. Then we went and hung out in a park for a little bit before heading to her house for snacks and a dance party.
After hanging out with Ana for awhile, I met up with Zora to take a tram. We went to a store try try on wedding dresses for my winter ball with the dancing class. It was so weird to be wearing such a nice and white dress, but it was fun. I didn't really understand the store lady who was helping me in and out of dresses, but we figured it out with help from Zora. I asked everyone what dress to get, and everyone agreed on the same one. When we were done, we got back on the tram and got a snack. We realized we weren't going to make it to the post office in time to get my package from my mom but maybe Wednesday. When I got home I worked on my blog, and Robert began the process of the kitchen remodel.
Wednesday, school didn't start until 9, so I got to sleep in a little bit again. After school I went to the cafe again for some tea. One of my favorite things here is that they let dogs go everywhere. I was sitting in the cafe and there was a dog inside too. It makes me so happy that people are smart enough to only take their dog places if it's well trained and that they are allowed a lot of places.
Later in the afternoon I met up with Ruda to meet Zora so that we could go home. On our way home we stopped at the post office to get my package, but I had forgotten the paper and for some reason they couldn't find it without the paper. So we went home, found the paper and Zora was so sweet and took me back to get the package. When we got home we got ready to go out to dinner since we didn't have a kitchen anymore. When we got home from dinner I opened up my package from my mom.
In the evening I talked to my host family since I was starting to get sick and I didn't think it was a good idea to go to school. They agreed since we were going away for the weekend and I needed to be healthy since it was going to be cold in the mountains. So I went to bed super early.
Thursday I slept in until 9:30, but when I woke up I just stayed in bed. Robert was so nice and brought me tea and cough syrup. The cough syrup was actually not disgusting like everything I have had in the US. I worked on learning some Czech and then watched some Netflix and napped for the rest of the day. Robert and another guy worked on the kitchen all day long, so sometimes there was no power, which was definitely weird all day. I had some ham on toast for lunch that Robert brought me.
I pulled myself together in the evening and got out of bed and got dressed to go out to dinner again. We went to a pub and had a quick dinner before returning home. I talked to Shri (from India to Brno) who arrived today, we set up a time to meet the next day.
Friday, I got up at my usual time and went to the city. I didn't have school since my class was going to the theater, but I still had my Czech lesson. I was still sick so speaking in Czech was especially difficult. After my lesson I went to the city center and waited for Shri. When we finally met, I showed her around the city a little bit before we made our way to Ana's school. Once we were with Ana, we went to get Kebab for lunch, and then we took Shri to our cafe to show her our favorite cake. After the cafe they took me to Zora's office to say goodbye to me.
Once we were home, I packed my stuff and got ready for our little trip to the mountains. We drove for two and and a half hours to a chalet in the mountains right next to the Polish border.
P.S....I think I'm finally all caught up! I so enjoyed taking these last couple of hours on this lazy Sunday morning reading your blog, looking at all the photos, and reading your gratitudes! You are such a special niece...I adore you. Embrace all that this exchange offers!
So sorry you are not feeling well. You have done so many things, it seems as if life is really busy! so I think I mentioned that elderberry syrup is from the Czech republic, and or rather the berries I used were, I suspect you could find some of that to take as a immune boost? love to hear how this next trip goes. Since I am now trying to write of my life/ memoir, I think it is great that you will have your journal and your blog, as I suspect that this is truly going to be a turning point in so many aspects of your life. Hindsight, is I wish I had so…
Take care of yourself! Some tea with ginger, honey, and lemon should do the trick! Enjoy your trip to the mountains. Love, love
