Saturday morning everybody got up and had breakfast together before Ruda left to take the bus to the city. Ruda was having a little concert in the city, and he going to be playing a few songs with others from his music school. Unfortunately I had made plans to meet up with all of the exchange students in Brno for the day around the same time. So my host parents and babička and I all drove to the city in the late morning and they dropped me off at the mall.
I was there around 11:30 when everyone else was supposed to be there. So when I got inside the mall I called Gigi to see where they were. When she answered she immediately apologized and said that they were still at the bus stop waiting for everyone to get there so that they could take the bus to the mall together. We have some communication issues sometimes because not everyone speaks english as their first language. So while I waited for them to arrive I got a coffee and hung out in the warm mall. Gigi called me when they were getting close so that I could come and meet them at the bus stop.
We had kind of a large group to be doing group shopping, but we did our best to make it work. There were seven of us, and we were from six different countries; Canada, India, Italy, Mexico, Russia, and USA. We were six to start the day since Ana had to join us later. We began our shopping adventure as soon as we had said our hellos. We decided to stay together the whole day. We would walk down one part of the mall and stop in whichever store someone wanted to go to. Most of the stores in the Olympia mall are pretty big, so we kept losing track of everyone. We spent a decent amount of time in every store that we went into since we spent a lot of time looking for each other. After a couple of stores Ana joined us.
After a bit of shopping we were all starting to get a bit hungry. So we all slowly made our way up to the food court. After we all got some food we went to sit down and eat together. We ended up eating for a long time, which I haven't really done for awhile. Most meals I have eaten here, you sit down, eat, and then go, but we sat and ate, and talked, and sat around some more. It was kind of a nice change since we were basically walking all day.
After lunch we went to a couple more stores before Shri and Sneha (girls from India) wanted to leave. We walked them out to the bus stop and then came back inside to finish our shopping. I bought a new backpack that I have wanted for years, since it was on sale and they had the perfect color for me.
When we were finally done shopping the five of us got on the bus back towards the city center. When we got back we said goodbye to Sharon (from Italy on AFS exchange) and then went to hang out. We went to the Christmas market and hung out for a couple of hours before making our way to the train station. We all waited for Sasha's (guy from Russia) bus to come before we hugged him goodbye.
I was going to be staying at Gigi's house, so we hugged Ana goodbye, and went to our tram stop.Once we got to Gigi's house I got to meet her host mom, dad, sister, brother in-law, and some of their friends. Gigi insisted on giving me a full tour of the house, which was absolutely amazing. We stayed up late talking and eating with everyone. Her family goes on a big summer vacation every year and they like to make it into a video, so we watched a few of those too. Then Gigi and I said goodnight and headed upstairs.
She and I hadn't really spent any time together since she had arrived, but we could both tell we were going to be great friends now that we were hanging out. So of course we stayed up for another couple hours talking about ourselves and getting to know each other better.
Sunday morning Gigi and I had set an alarm for 8 so that I would have time to see the house in the light and have breakfast. We ended up sleeping until 9 because we were tired. I grabbed a yogurt for breakfast and thanked everyone for having me over. I got go meet her sister's baby before we ran to the bus together. She decided to come with me to my bus stop since she wasn't really doing anything that day. We hugged goodbye and went our separate ways home.
When I got home we ate lunch together, but then we had some time to ourselves. I used my free time to clean up my room a bit since that had needed to happen for awhile. Then I face-timed Kieu from back home when she woke up. In the evening we had a small dinner. After dinner I struggled my way through asking to go on a trip in Czech. I had worked with my friends in school for the last couple days of the week to learn and memorize what I wanted to say. After I got through my 5-7 sentences of explanation and asking to go they said yes! So I started talking with the people I wanted to go see so that I could ask the district if I could go. After our conversation I called Addison (Virginia->Slovakia) for a couple of hours since it had been so long since we last talked. I finally went to bed around midnight.
